After 5 days, we are finally back!

Im really sorry for the long wait. It took quite a long time to do everything I wanted to. I had to manage this plus going out, plus going to work, fathers day and being ill. I did it as quick as I could and worked as hard as I could, One of my posts in the mod section was posted at 5.29AM, so don't call me lazy

Anyway. You probably been wondering what has changed on the forum. Well to be honest, not alot. Well nothing that will affect you too much, but in terms of the overall forum performance, it's alot better. I'm gunna keep the short and sweet and simply list all the changes I have made. As I did things I made posts in the Mod section so I will simply copy and paste them into here.

Domain Redirects

I have redirected all the following domains to http://www.aciidforums.com. I have used 301 redirect (permanent) which will tell all search engines to use the new domain and drop any old ones. This well make AF.com more offical and prevent any search engine duplicates which will lower the site rank.

Currently I cant redirect bebobox.com/forum, because they are the same location on the server, I will need to create aciidforums.com as a main domain. Ill so this at a later stage.

New Smilies

I have gotten rid of all the old smilies and replaced them with a few new ones. I added the MSN smilies as people use them the most. I will add more later.

Aciid Chat

I tried a while back to add a chat feature to the forum but because it wasnt supported on this theme it wouldnt work properly. However, I tried it again and spent ages modifying it to work. And finally it did.

Only members can talk. Simply type a message and click submit. Please dont abuse this feature or I will remove it. All the forum rules still apply for it, eg. no spamming.

Min post before viewing forums

In a bid to stop leechers I have now added a min post rule before viewing some sections. This simply means you must have made 3 (non-spam) posts before being able to view the following sections:

Bebo Hacks, Cheats and Tricks
Bebo Bots
MySpace Cheats, Tools and Tricks
MSN Tools, Cheats and Tricks

I think 3 is enough to get people posting, but without spamming

New BBcodes

I have manually removed the crappy BBcodes (List,List=,[*]) which no one used. I have then added the following Bbcodes:

I added a 'Select All' button to the 'Code' so it will highlight everything automatically

Posting error fixed

Sometimes when posting or copying text you used to get an error message, something about 'Full text native'. This is now fixed.

New Reputation System

One of the new features we have added is the rep system. Before we found users were simply posting loads of useless comments to boost their post count. But now its all about quality of posts rather than quantity. Under everyone name, you will see their repuation. You can + rep or - rep for other members based on certain posts or topics. For example if someone posts are very useful and good quality topic, you can + rep them. You can also rep people based on posts, for example if you ask for help and someone resolves your problem, + rep them!

> You can Rep once every 3 hours - So make sure you are sure who you are going to rep
> You have to rep 4 other members before repping the same person
> One rep block represents 5 rep points (this may change)
> When leaving rep, you can add a comment as to why you are repping them, eg/ thanks for a certain topic or post.
> Rep can be possitive or negative
> Min of 30 posts before being able to rep
> You will get +1 rep for each week you are a member
> Different groups have different rep power. Myself, Easdale and Intoxic's rep are worth 4 rep points. Elites are worth 3, VIP are worth 2 and everyone else is worth 1.
> Me and Easdale can edit anyones rep.
> We will disable you being able to rep if you abuse the feature
> We will disable you being able to rep if you ask people to rep outside of the forum or PM.
> You may request people to + rep you only if you start a topic.
> We keep monitor who are you repping, if we feel you have an arrangement with other members to rep each other, we will disable you all.

How to the Reputation System Works.

Under member usernames you will see the rep bar. Each block currently represents 5 rep points. If you feel a decent topic is made which is helpful to you or others, you can click the + arrow next to the rep bar. This will take you to another page to leave a comment as to why you are repping. The user will be able to view this in their User Control Panel so make sure you state what topic/post you are leaving rep for and why. If you feel someone is spamming or leaving bad posts, you can minus rep from them. Again, use the - arrow and leave a comment.

It took me a while getting the system to work on this theme as it wasnt supported orginally, so please dont abuse it or ill remove it. I feel this is a great new way to find who is actually posting good quality stuff.

View Un-read Posts

From the questionnaire I found pretty much everyone, including me, uses the 'View new posts' link to see all new posts. 'New Posts' means all posts posted within a certain time scale are displayed. However, this isnt very good, because if you arnt on for a while, it wont display those posts. I have found I have missed important posts because of this.

As a resonce I have added a new feature 'View unread posts'. This isnt included by defualt in phpbb3 so I had to find another mod and adapt it for this use. This will show all posts that you havnt read yet, meaning you wont miss out on any.

This was on the old forum, but wasnt with the new install, so ive added it again

After making a post, it skips the 'your post has been made successfuly, click here to view', and goes straight to the topic

Thanks for all the feedback.

First test run on monday went smoothly, not too many problems.

Problems:

Some attachments not showing [im copying over the rest of the files to the new directory, will be fixed soon]

Chat box [takes up too much room and is annoying with the 'message sent' page [working on this, might add a different chat box with instant posts and refreshing]

Spam [Had a bit, but not as much as I thought, users spamming are getting banned and all posts deleted]
